Students who have highly qualified PE teachers are receiving more actual minutes of physical activity in class as well as better physical fitness results. It would be interesting to find out the qualifications of the teachers who were in the control group.

The flipside of these results in regards to NCLB, is that many schools are finding less and less time for PE due to the demands of testing in the core content areas. This makes me wonder if the teachers who are professionally licensed or specialized are not more forward in demanding time for PE. Current CDC recommendations are 30 minutes of PE a day for every students. States may vary on their mandates.
